Makeup Tutorial: Katy Perry Dark Horse

After seeing Katy Perry's new music video for Dark Horse, I really wanted to try out one of her makeup looks so I thought I'd do a little tutorial for you guys on how I did it on myself.

To begin with I applied foundation all over my face and concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. Then I applied some transparent powder all over my face to set the foundation.

Apply gold eyeshadow to the inner eyelid and under the eye.

Apply bright turquoise eyeshadow to the whole lid.

Apply dark blue eyeshadow in the crease of your eye.

It looks a bit weird at the moment but it does all come together.

Apply black eyeliner around the eye in the desired shape.

Apply mascara on top and bottom lashes and then false lashes on the top.

Then I applied a peach blusher to my cheeks.

In the video Katy Perry wears this eye makeup with two different lipsticks so I tried out both. First up is the nude lipstick.

Then the pinky lipstick. I also realised I'd forgotten to fill in my brows so I done them at this point.

Personally I prefer the nude lipstick as it keeps the focus on the eyes.

Katy Perry's eyeshadow is also a bit more glittery but I don't have any proper glitter eyeshadows so I decided to put a bit of glittery lipgloss over the top of the eyeshadow to see how that would look.

Makeup: Date Night

Tonight I'm going on a date to the cinema to watch Robocop. This is only my second date with this guy so I'm still not really sure how I feel. Anyway I thought I'd show you the makeup that I'm going to wear tonight. I've tried to keep it quite simple and not too dark as I don't really want to scare him off.

Today I've done another Valentine's makeup but this one is little less wearable as I wanted to include some hearts in the look.

The hearts were actually quite hard to do, I practised on my hand first but doing them on your face is completely different.

Valentines Week: Jewellery

Today I'm going to show you some Valentines inspired jewellery that I own.

The first I absolutely love even though I've only worn it a few of times. I believe this was a birthday present a couple of years ago. It's a lovely silver necklace from Guess with a red heart and a diamond snake wrapped around it. I saw this on their website and just had to have it.

The next 2 pieces are both ankle chains and I think they were both presents. I've worn these a few times but they are more for the summer to wear when your showing your legs and have sandals on.

I don't actually own that much Valentine inspired jewellery so I'm now going to show you some of my mum's.

The first one is a pretty gold heart bracelet from F.HINDS.

The next one is lovely simple gold heart necklace from Beaverbrooks which I also have but in silver. I can't find mine at the moment though. My mum bought it for me for being her bridesmaid at her wedding and I used to wear it all the time.

Next is a Vivienne Westwood bracelet which came with the Naughty Alice fragrance.

Next are some simple silver earrings from H&M.

Lastly is some Gold earrings from Guess.

My mum owns a lot of gold jewellery but the majority of my jewellery is silver as I prefer that.

Also, in a couple of days (15th) it's my 24th birthday. I can't believe I'm nearly half way through my 20's. Tomorrow night I'll be having a Chinese takeaway at my dad's, then on Saturday I'll be getting a giant cookie from Millie's Cookies and going out for an Indian in the evening with my mum. It's going to be a busy few days of eating and I can't wait.

Valentines Week: Makeup

I almost forgot to do my post today and I was even going through lots of my beauty products earlier. Luckily I did the actual makeup for this post yesterday as it's quite dark outside now so the lighting isn't very good. I wanted to do a wearable makeup look for Valentines using pinks and I've actually worn a similar look to this before.

I used a couple of Estee Lauder eyshadows for this look which I really love as they have a lovely shimmer and are so easy to put on and blend.

Valentines Week: Shoes

So, my nails from yesterday haven't lasted long, most of the gems have fallen off already, I'll probably have to be more careful with what I do when I wear them.

Anyway onto today's post, I thought I'd show you a pair of shoes I have which would be perfect for Valentine's day. I have to admit that I haven't actually worn these yet and I've probably had them about 2 years. They are just so lovely and my favourite brand of shoes, Irregular Choice. They have red hearts all over them and a cute little bow at the front. Gorgeous!!!

They are super high, the heel is 5 inches and they don't even have a platform. 

Irregular Choice also do all sorts of patterns on the bottom of their shoes, this pair has a lovely flowery pattern, it's so pretty.

The little lines on my legs are actually from some socks, I didn't notice them until after I took the photos.

I'm not actually doing anything for Valentine's day so maybe I'll just wear these around the house.

Valentines Week: Nails

Everyday this week up until Valentine's Day I'm going to be doing a post which is Valentine's related. I've been planning this since last month and I've been looking forward to doing some Valentine's themed stuff.

Today's post is some Valentine's nails and it's my first time using gems on my nails.

I'm really pleased with how these turned out so I may have to use gems more often. Not sure how long they will last on my nails though.

This is a Japanese brand of skincare containing a high glycerine content which is great for dry/damaged skin. This pretty much does what it says, it's a body wash. I don't really like the smell of this, it contains juniper, bergamont, geranium and lavender so I probably won't continue using this.

Currently I've been using a really cheap pair of tweezers so I'm happy to have received these and they are really lovely and pretty.

Anatomicals - Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake-Up Under Eye Patches

These patches help reduce fine lines, wrinkles and revitalise the skin. I don't actually have under eye bags but I thought I'd try these out anyway just to see if they did anything for me and I think my skin looks a little smoother than before.

Vaseline - Essential Moisture Lotion

I'm really starting to love Vaseline products, I've been using it on my lips a lot lately. This moisturiser has a non-greasy formula and it absorbs quickly into the skin. I've used this a few times now and it makes my skin feel lovely and smooth. I'm actually thinking about getting a full size of this.
