Review: Avon Colortrend Comb It Mascara

Todays review is on the Avon Colortrend Comb It Mascara. I must have tried nearly all the Avon mascaras now and I bought this one as I thought it'd be good to get close to the base of the lashes as I always find that difficult when applying my mascara.
Avon Colortrend Comb It Mascara
This is from their Colortrend range which I think is tailored more to the younger age group. It has some lovely bright green packaging so you're not likely to lose this in your makeup drawer. The bristles are quite small and only on one side of the wand, very much like a comb.
Avon Colortrend Comb It Mascara (2)
It has a very wet formula and there always looks to be lots of product on the wand as not much is scraped off when you pull it out of the tube. The application is super easy and you can get really close to the base of the lashes. It separates the lashes and gives quite a natural look.
Avon Colortrend Comb It Mascara (3)
This would be perfect as a base coat for your lashes which I will probably use it for or maybe just for your lower lashes due to the small wand.

You can buy this for £4.50 from Avon

Haul: Makeup Revolution August 2015

I made a mini Makeup Revolution haul this month. My mum wanted to get one of the chocolate palettes so I offered to make up the order to £15 so we could get the free palette that was on offer at the time.
Makeup Revolution Haul
I only bought 3 items as I didn't want to spend too much money. I've only got a couple of primers in my collection so thought I'd try out the Ultra Face Base Primer (£5) to see if it's any good. Makeup Revolution recently brought out some new blushers so I really wanted to get one of them. I got the Matte Blush in Beloved (£3), I thought this shade would go with most makeup looks. The last item I chose was their Amazing Eyeliner in Black (£1), most of the time I use the same black eyeliner so thought I'd give this one a try. The free palette that I got was the Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette in Eyes Like Angels, it's got a mixture of all sorts of colours so I'm looking forward to doing some makeup looks with this.

Have you tried any of these products?

Haul: Primark Makeup

I haven't tried much of the makeup from Primark so when I popped in there the other day I grabbed a few bits.
Primark Haul
The first product I picked up was the Duo Brow & Wax Pencil in Medium (£1) as I don't actually have any brow products, I've just been using an eyeshadow from a large palette which is not travel friendly. I don't have many foundations either so I thought I'd try their new Liquid Foundation in Light (£2.50). I'm not sure if the shade will match but I have a white foundation I can use to make it lighter if needed. The next two products I didn't need at all but thought I'd give them a try, the Volume Boost Mascara in Black (£1) and the Deep Colour Ultra Shine Lipstick in 47 Hot Pink (£1.50).

Have you tried any of the makeup from Primark?

New Stationery

I popped in Primark the other day to get a few bits and while I was there I came across some really cute stationery. I love stationery and I probably have more than I need but I can't help myself. I didn't buy the whole collection as I didn't need the phone button stickers or the pencil case but I got the rest.
Tokidoki Stationery
This stationery is from the brand Tokidoki and I think it's so cute. I got the notebook, eraser set with 2 different designs and the stationery set which includes a pen, pencil, rubber, sharpener and ruler. Each item was £2.50 each so all this cost me £7.50 which I think is quite reasonable.

What do you think of this stationery set?

Book Review: House Of Echoes by Barbara Erskine

I thought I'd start doing some book reviews as I love reading and usually read a couple of books a month so here we go with my first book.
Book Review House Of Echoes by Barbara Erskine
Title House of Echoes
Author Barbara Erskine
430 pages
★★★★☆
Buy from Amazon

Synopsis
Joss Grant is eager to begin a new life when she inherits Belheddon Hall. She brings her husband, Luke and their small son, Tom, to the dilapidated house, and sets about discovering her family roots which lie in the village.

But not long after they move in, Tom wakes screaming at night. Joss heard echoing voices and senses an invisible presence, watching her from the shadows. Are they spirits from the past? Or is she imagining them? As she learns, with mounting horror, of Belheddon's tragic and dramatic history, her fear grows very real, for she realises that both her family and her own sanity are at the mercy of a violent and powerful energy which seems beyond anyone's control.

Thoughts
I borrowed this book off my mum as the synopsis sounded interesting. I love watching scary films but I don't think I've read an actual scary book so thought I'd see what this was like.
It's a classic ghost story set in a haunted old house in England. I love that this story is set in England as most of the books I've read are set in America, it's nice to read something set in my country. I didn't actually find this book to be that scary though, it was a bit creepy in parts but as I was reading it I was constantly waiting for it to get scary. I did enjoy reading this though and I thought it was really well written so I may read some of her other books.

Do you have any scary book recommendations?

Review: Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette

Todays review is on the Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death by Chocolate palette. Makeup Revolution have 3 chocolate palettes and I currently have 2 of them so only 1 more to buy. The Death by Chocolate palette is like the 'dark chocolate bar' out of the 3 of them.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (1)
The packaging is gorgeous, I just want to eat it. The case is very sturdy and also includes a large mirror inside. There are 16 eyeshadows in this palette and they all have names which I love, I find it rather boring when eyeshadows just have numbers or no names.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (2)
This palette has a mixture of mattes and shimmers which are just gorgeous colours. There's a lot of brown and gold shades in this palette and a couple of large highlighting shades.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (3)
First up is the top row and going from left to right we have White Light, Don't Let Go, Break Me Up, Consume Me and All Is Lost. As you can see or not, White Light is pretty much the same colour as my skin and the rest are all brown shades.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (4)
On the middle row we have Lick Me, Fool's Gold, One More Bar, Devour Me, Tear The Wrapper and Love You To Death. A few golds on this row which are really lovely and a couple of purple toned browns.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (5)
And lastly on the bottom row we have Pray For Me, Dipped, Tease Me, Set Me Free and Bring Down Angels. Some more gold shades on this row a couple of highlighter shades at the end which you can only just see on my skin as they're shimmers.
Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Death By Chocolate Palette (6)
I really love this palette and I'm so glad I bought it. Most of the shadows are really pigmented and soft except for Lick Me and All Is Lost which you need to build up the colour a bit. The shadows last really well on the eyes, I wore this palette up London for the day and it still looked great when I got home. Overall this is a really great palette and I would recommend it.

You can buy this for £7.99 from Makeup Revolution or Superdrug.

Have you tried this palette? What do you think?
