Favourites: May 2014

One of my favourite posts to read are peoples monthly favourites so I thought I'd start doing them myself in case you're interested in what I'm loving each month. I'm going to include beauty and non beauty products but most of the products will probably be beauty most of the time. I haven't got that many things to show you this month as I only decided to do this about half way through the month but here we go.

Beauty

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara in Black
I've been wearing this pretty much everyday that I've worn makeup, I just love this mascara and it gives so much volume to the lashes. I'm tempted to try this in the other colours too as I'm so impressed with it.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain
I just started using this foundation in May and so far I am loving it, it's the best foundation I've tried out so far that matches my skin as I'm quite pale. It feels really nice on the skin and gives quite good coverage.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush
I recently got this brush in the Real Techniques Core Collection and I just love it for apply my foundation. I've been using it with the Rimmel Foundation and it applies it so nicely and the brush feels so soft on the skin. One of the best purchases I've made, it's a shame they don't sell it on it's own though.

Bimble Organic Lip Scrub in Vanilla Fudge
My lips have been a bit dry lately and I've been trying out some lip scrubs. I found this one on Amazon and it just sounded so delicious. It really smells like vanilla fudge and it doesn't taste too bad either (I think it's edible, hopefully!) I've been using this on my lips a few times a week and it's definitely helped smooth them.

Food

I've been getting quite bored of having bread for lunch everyday so I've started having wraps instead and I'm loving them. I have them everyday with chicken tikka, pepper and salad. They are just so yummy and I look forward to them everyday.

Music

I've been listening to a couple of songs a lot this month and thought I'd mention them. They may not be to everyones taste but I'm really liking them.

Makeup: Colour Crush For Summer

Today I have a makeup look using a gorgeous bright orange lipstick which I think will be perfect to wear for summer this year. I went for neutral eyes with it to keep the main focus on the lips. I actually got a few compliments when I wore this makeup out so I will definitely be wearing it again.

Review: Collection Lipsticks & Giveaway Winner

A few weeks ago Tesco had a bunch of makeup products that were on sale so I had to buy a few bits. I think this is the first time I've actually bought any collection lipsticks before but they had a few shades for about £1.50 so I bought a couple of them. The two shades I got are Sweet Tart and Birthday Suit.

First up is Sweet Tart.

I love pink lipsticks so couldn't really go wrong with getting this one. It's a bright pink and I recently wore this in my post Wedding party Makeup And Outfit.

I'm loving this colour and I'm sure I'll be wearing it a lot this summer.

Next up is Birthday Suit.

I'm trying to find a nude lipstick that looks really good on me so thought I'd give this one a go. It's quite a pale nude and looked lovely swatched on my hand.

I spent ages trying to take a nice photo of this lipstick on my lips but they all just were not looking that good. This colour just doesn't look good on me so I'll probably give this away to someone and continue my search for the perfect nude.

I really like the texture of these lipsticks, they apply nicely to the lips and feel quite moisturising. They are quite opaque but don't totally cover in just one swipe and I think they kind of smell like sweeties, yummy! I found them to be quite long wearing, I didn't need to re-apply Sweet Tart when I went to the wedding and I'd already worn it about half the day before I went out so pretty good.

Review: My First Mac Lipstick

I don't know why but I've always loved Mac and wanted to buy so many of their products. I can't believe that I've only just recently bought my first Mac lipstick, what's wrong with me, why haven't I done it sooner?! I don't have an answer to that really, I suppose I've just never got round to it and they are a bit expensive.

Anyway onto the lipstick that I got, it's a matte lipstick in Russian Red. I actually bought it from Cohorted, I can't remember how much I paid for it but it was cheaper than buying it directly from Mac so I'm pretty pleased with that. I don't have many red lipsticks and this one just looked gorgeous.

I really love the Mac packaging and the lipstick smells lovely, like vanilla. I love the colour and it feels quite nice on the lips, not drying at all. It's really opaque and covers in pretty much one swipe. The wear time is pretty good as well, I think I wore this for about 6 hours, it came off slightly after eating but not so much that it needed to be re-applied.

After trying out this lipstick I'm really looking forward to adding more Mac lipsticks to my collection.

I really love how the below photo came out, I think I'm getting better at this photography stuff.

Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

This is only the third eye primer I've ever tried so I'm not much of an expert on these and I've only been using them about a year or two now. I know a lot of people rave about the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and I only bought it recently as I saw it on Cohorted and bought it for £11.20. I thought it was worth giving it a try.

It applies quite smoothly and evens out the skin tone a bit. I've never really had a problem with eyeshadow creasing so I can't really tell you if this primer stops that, although it does say that on the packaging. It definitely helped intensify the colour of my eyeshadows and they lasted all day and evening without budging. I also have a little confession to make too, I actually left my makeup on overnight and the eyeshadow was still in place the next day so that's pretty impressive.

I would probably buy this again although you don't need to apply much so I think this tube will last me quite a while.

Review: Sleek Face Form Contouring And Blush Palette In Fair

I've not really tried contouring before and pretty much all the bloggers and youtubers do it so I thought I'd give it a try. Firstly I needed to find a product that wasn't too dark as my skin is pretty pale. I came across the Sleek Makeup Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in Fair, the colours looked good and there was a pretty blush included. I bought this from Boots for £9.99.

I recently tried this out in my previous post Wedding Party Makeup And Outfit. I didn't want to go too mad on my first try so I just applied a little. I used the contour under my cheekbones and down the side of my nose. The highlight on my brow bone, down the centre of my nose and tops of my cheeks then the blush on my cheeks, of course!

The contour colour is a light matte brown, the highlight is a light shimmery peach colour and the blush is a really beautiful shimmery light terracotta. I really like the colours and I will certainly be using this more. They apply lovely and are really easy to blend. I like their packaging too, it's very sleek!

The dress I wore is from New Look for £14.99.

I think this dress would also be great for going to a day wedding. I was going to wear some heels but as I haven't worn any for a while I thought I'd stick to flats. The shoes are from H&M, I bought them a year or 2 ago.

I haven't really done any outfit posts before as I'm not happy with my size at the moment but I'm changing that so hopefully they'll be plenty more outfit posts in the future.

Haul: Makeup

Over the past few weeks I've bought quite a bit of makeup. I have a serious addiction! I still want to buy more and I'm sure I have enough already.

I thought I'd just do a post to show you all the makeup that I've bought and then do separate posts later on once I've tried the products out.

Review: Maybelline Super Stay 14hr Lipstick

I received a couple of the Maybelline Super Stay 14hr Lipsticks from my mum's friend the other week. I don't think I've ever tried lipsticks from Maybelline before so it will be good to see what they're like. The two shades I got are On And On Pink and Ultimate Blush.

They are quite nice colours and they have a shimmery/frosty finish.

When applying these they did seem to drag a bit which then made my lips a little sore. I also found them a bit drying on my lips.

I wore these for about 7 hours and they were starting to wear off around then so they don't actually last 14 hours, on me anyway. They were still on after eating and drinking though so that's good.

Overall, I'm not particularly impressed with these and I probably won't wear them again.
